Oh its that time of season again....the dreaded family photos.

So the weather is getting cooler, leafs are starting to change color and fall, the days are getting shorter and time is getting ready to change. Yes its that time of season again, where holidays are going to seem just to close together and some of us will be Pinterest freaks and pinning all kinds of neat holiday ideas, and recipes. Others of us we will be running around trying to find that perfect gift right in the nick of time.

As I sit here today and know that time will be flying just as fast as the last few months have, I realized I need to get on the ball for family shoots. Like the years before I’ve posted holiday specials and I will again this year. Most of us parents and non parents are on tight budgets but it is important to take the time and spend some money to do family photos. Each year you look back to remember the memories its is more than likely with a photograph. I have families that come to me every year and its great to see how everyone’s changes and grows. Its also fun to come up with neat ideas and themes for a session.

I wanted to blog a bit about family today.......not just general family but grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Family can even be people who are not of blood. To me times have changed since our parents or grandparents. I remember as a kid when it was time to take family photos it was in the yearly holiday dress my parents bought once a year, it was also the same dress we wore for the rest of the holidays through out the year or we just wore them till they no longer fit..lol Once a year we got that pretty princess dress and once a year we got that family photo that was taken at K-mart or Sears. Back then it was well out of budget for my parents to hire a private photographer. The only time I think we had that was when the photographer with the horse came by the house with leathers and a cowboy hat going door to door for photography.....some of you my age might have a photo of this or know what I’m talking about.

I'm glad photography has changed since then. We are now more affordable, creative, and can offer more of a private intimate sessions with our clients. Not saying that in-house photography stores don’t have good photography but I can’t remember the last time I took my Son or Grandparents to a studio around the holidays and it being a good time. Years ago I went to a local mall and stood in line for two hours...yes two hours! That was without one photo taken, had to wait around tons of screaming, crying or to shy to take a photo kids who were shell shocked with all the strangers staring at them while taking the photo. Not to mention the parents who were yelling at their kids to smile because the had the pressure for time. Then out of only five to ten photos you had to choose one where it looked somewhat decent. The only good thing was I got my photos within a few hours but I was tired and drained and wanted to get home away from all the craziness. I’m sure some of you have experienced this a time or two.

So back to what I’m trying to say, family photos are very important part of our memories and they don’t need to be a hassle to do or fight madness to get them done. Even Grandpa could appreciate that. lol This year my goal is to make your family sessions creative, fun and easy. So next year when photo time comes around its something the whole family looks forward to. Yes maybe even Grandpa! I will take time and a no pressure envirnment to get the great shoots you will appreciate for years. I am a upbeat and fun person so I won't be in a bad mood from being around other in a bad mood. I will leave you walking out of one of my session feeling good and not stressed.  No family is to big or to small for me, and I look forward to capturing your memories this holiday season!

Baseball love!

Jose and Rae are a great young couple. When I met with the two baseball love birds to go over ideas for their wedding and engagement photos, we decided to make and incorporate a bat with the future last name of the bride. If you look back some blog posts ago you can view this couples engagement photos using this bat. I have to thank my talented assistant for making the bat we used cause she reused the bat for the couples signature board but added a special touch more for the wedding. Its amazing how our ideas come together and helps define a couple. This is one thing I love and look forward to when it comes to picture time.

I have to say this happy couple is very blessed with amazing family and friends, Down to a full house at the church wedding, which was refreshing, today in age most wedding couples op for an outdoor or venue wedding ceremony. This reception was going all night, with great food, amazing looking cake and upbeat music which got almost everyone on the dance floor. All in all this wedding kept me camera happy! I have enjoyed this couple from the moment we met for our meeting, Thank you Jose and Rae for letting me run with ideas and letting me capture your wedding day!

Right for each other....

Melissa and Rory are a young amazing couple. When I first met with these two I had learned that they had been together for quiet some time now. Like every relationships there is ups and downs. To my surprise I learned that this couple had once felt that when they first met they were nothing of each other types. Looking at the photos we all can see how wrong they were. I meet with couples often and I have to say these two complement each other very well. I love when two people are sure about what the want and go for it together.

For months I have looked forward to this couples wedding, and their wedding day was amazing. Things all came together as they planned and even the weather was my best friend that day! The day was perfect!

I often wonder if I can call my job a job after weddings like this one, I have to say I do love what I do and am very blessed to keep doing it. Thank you Melissa and Rory for letting me capture your day! People like you two help me stay inspired to doing what I love! Blessings and love to you both!
